Bob Kelsey Investigates: ‘Neck on the Line’ Set to Celebrate Free Comic Book Day

So as tomorrow is Free Comic Day (waits for cheers and applause to die down) and it’s a great day for us comic folk and now finally we here at Unseen Shadows thought we would throw our hat into the ring. To coincide with Free Comics Day we will be releasing the first ‘Bob Kelsey Investigates’ story ‘Neck on the Line‘. The story is written by Virgil Yendell with art by James Evans.

For those of you who don’t know Bob Kelsey is a reporter on the run from a centuries old cult he made the mistake of falling foul of. Unable to keep his reporter’s nose for a story out of other people’s business he now runs an underground blog investigating the weird, the strange and the downright surreal. If you remember the old show ‘Kolchak: Night Stalker‘ starring Darren McGavin, which was a heavy influence on the creation for the X-files TV show, then lets just say Kelsey and Kolchak would get along just fine. In this first adventure we see Bob relaxing after his latest case and relating his tale to anyone who will listen. The story is only two pages long and you don’t need to have read the Fallen Heroes novel or any of the spin off material to enjoy this fun short story.

We are currently already working on two more Bob Kelsey Investigates tales so watch this space for more news and look out for the comic tomorrow. In the meantime here’s panel to give you a taste of what to expect.

Blood Cries Out Page 14: First Look at the Reverend

So in case you thought the team working on Blood Cries Out have been sitting on their thumbs doing nothing I thought I’d drop by to shatter that illusion. The problem is the pages after our last preview are pretty spoiler heavy (but boy are they stunning) so we wanted to wait to get to a spot where we could give you something to look at which wouldn’t spoil the story. To that end here, for your viewing pleasure, is not only our first look at the Reverend but also a nice big hint of which Fallen Heroes alumni will be sharing some panel time with our holy weapon of god.

Hopefully we’ll be able to show off this panel in full colour courtesy of Gat soon but I’m sure you agree that Cy,Nic and Steve have done some stunning work on this page. If you’ve not checked out the Blood Cries Out preview then here’s the link to the PDF.
