If you’ve been following the Unseen Shadows project you will have seen a few previews of the work on The Chimera Factor. We now have the proud privilege of showing off the cover, at long last.
As you can see artist Pete woods has outdone himself on this one!
For those not in the know the two characters on the cover are Steph Connisbee and Victoria Sullivan. This a unique crossover as Steph was first featured in the Fallen Heroes novel and Victoria’s first Unseen Shadows outing was in audio drama ‘Empire of Blood’.
This story sees the pair on opposite sides in a global hunt for a mythical weapon that could change the course of history.
Fingers crossed will be launching the comic at this year’s Thought Bubble Comic Festival.
Over the last few weeks we saw the completion of all the inks on ‘Eye of Stone’ written by Cy Dethan, with art by Heather Sheppard and letters by Nic Wilkinson.
It’s been a long road getting here but the person who bought us across the inking finish line is Wendy Muldon, a fantastic inker and project life saver. We here at Unseen Shadows welcome Wendy to the team and hope this won’t be her last adventure with us.
At the moment the creative team and myself are deciding whether we need colours on the art or to release in black and white. The main thing is this latest Napoleon Stone outing is nearing completion.
Really excited to share this one with the Unseen Shadows fans as Cy has written a cracking script and Heather’s visuals are more than up to the task of bringing the script to life.
In many ways this is a Napoleon Stone origin story as told through the eyes of his enemies.
Here’s a look at page 6 (inked by Wendy) and as you can see Napoleon, as per usual, is not exactly having the time of his life.
Seeing as today is International Women’s Day I thought I would celebrate that fact by giving away the two stories which feature the first two ladies of Unseen Shadows, Stephanie Connisbee and ex navy pilot and Kathryn Monroe, a special investigator for the United Nations.
So for one day only I have dropped the price to a big fat zero for the digital comics Operation Solomon which stars Steph and Historia which stars Kathryn. You can pick up these for free from the the links below.
I’m also dedicating this post to my mum Icilda Nugent who was the greatest woman I ever knew and whose strength, courage and compassion can be seenin both Steph and Kathryn. It was mum who pushed me to write my first stories and taught me to never stop dreaming, never stop reaching for what I wanted. I think wherever she is now she would have liked Steph and Kathryn…hmm maybe not Steph I think she swears a little too much for mum!
Anyway Happy International Women’s Day and I hope you enjoy the stories!
On a Tour of Duty in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant Steph Connisbee is signed on as the pilot on a top secret mission- Operation: Solomon. During this assignment she will uncover secrets and danger and step into the world of Unseen Shadows before she even knows it…

So the second draft of our Choose your adventure story Napoleon Stone and the Army of Set is complete. I’m now working with the story’s writer (Richmond Clements) and our gamebook guru ( Antony McGarry-Thickitt) to put some final touches on the enemy encounters before we can start doing some playtesting (can’t wait)!
The plan will be to release the book later this year in print. I’m also looking to a way to make an interactive version of the book that people can play-through online.
Happy new year everyone! And to welcome in what I’m sure we all hope will be a better year. To kick start things in the right way here’s the first complete page from The Chimera Factor.
Cracking work from Pete (art), Paul (letters) and Richmond (Story).
